Lazio Idea for Mariga from Parma

Lazio, a name for the midfield: Mc Donald Marigo of Parma. There was a contact between the presidents. So far everything is born from a conversation between the club, a survey carried out in recent weeks. He also confirmed Tommaso Ghirardi, patron of Parma, which was late yesterday evening: "It's true, I must not hide anything. With President Lotito we are friends, I requested information as did other major Italian companies. We are not a supermarket, we have major projects, as a player Marigo is of great value. "

Need an economic investment and a possible deal could be a few pieces of Lazio. Marigo, class 1987, the median power, is one of the talents Gialloblu. Natural power, power in contrast, power in speed, not to forget the technical quality: they are his main qualities. Median would be a perfect complement to the midfield line of the near future. Marigo is maturing and is still intended to grow. Like the President Lotito, had excellent reports about him. Begin negotiations in June would not be difficult. Read More..

Lecce host struggling Lazio in a game that neither side can afford to lose…

20 Feb 2009 12:42:38

Kick-Off: Sunday, February 22, 15:00 CET, Stadio Via Del Mare, Lecce

Giallorossi Fighting Against The Drop

Following back-to-back defeats against Inter and Cagliari, Lecce are feeling the pressure with the drop zone perilously close. Mario Beretta’s side have never really exploded this season, and consequently the Giallorossi have been in a dogfight throughout the campaign. With a mere four wins in twenty-four games, it is clear that the Salentini find themselves in their current predicament because of an inability to close results in their favour.

Lecce are the only side to have drawn ten games this season and this is an area to address if they are to avoid the drop. Whilst performances such as the 1-0 away defeat to Inter will have filled them with fighting hope, others such as the 1-1 away draw to Chievo tell a much more worrying story. Often in the games against fellow relegation strugglers, the Giallorossi have failed to punish their opponents and make vital strides towards salvation.

Beretta’s men will be aware of Lazio’s current slump when they arrive at the Via Del Mare looking to turn their fortunes around. Lecce will take heart from the fact that the Biancocelesti have struggled all season against smaller opposition, and therefore if they can put in a fighting performance, the Salentini have every chance of some precious points on Sunday.

Lazio Crashing Down To Earth

The situation in the Lazio camp is almost at boiling point after the Biancocelesti’s recent poor run of results. In the last six games, the capital club have amassed a meagre two points and fallen from the UEFA cup places to mid-table obscurity. Following last Saturday’s late draw against Torino at the Olimpico, the squad left the field to widespread booing from the Lazio faithful.

It has become quite clear that Delio Rossi’s era in charge of the Biancocelesti is set to end in June, and this has lead to unrest in a side fighting for identity. With the slump in form starting in the 4-1 embarrassment against Cagliari, it appeared Lazio were struggling because of widespread defensive frailties. More recently the goals have dried up, and with the defence making an improvement, now the lack of goals is costing Lazio precious points.

If Lazio are to avoid another season of discontent, they must turn things around fast. With the Euro chasing sides now a massive ten points ahead, the Aquilotti need to start winning if they are to stand any chance of re-emerging towards the end of the season. Lazio’s primary hope for a place in Europe now looks set to be via the Coppa Italia. With the first semi-final against Juve less than a fortnight away, Delio Rossi’s men need to stop the rot immediately, in order to approach that game in the best possible frame of mind.

TEAM NEWS

Lecce

Mario Beretta has no selection worries to contend with ahead of Sunday’s encounter. Jose Ignacio Castillo is currently the only player occupying the Lecce infirmary.

Probable Starting XI (4-3-3): Benussi; Esposito, Stendardo, Fabiano, Polenghi; Caserta, Munari, Edinho; Tiribocchi, Cacia, Vives

Lazio

Delio Rossi’s recent selection problems have eased up a little with the return of Mauro Zarate, who missed out last Saturday through suspension. Cristian Ledesma looks set to miss out again this Sunday however due to an ongoing adductor injury whilst Mourad Meghni and Simone Del Nero are also sidelined through injury. Fortunately, the Biancocelesti have no outstanding suspensions ahead of Sunday’s encounter.

Probable Starting XI (4-3-2-1): Muslera, Lichtsteiner, Cribari, Siviglia, Radu; Brocchi, Manfredini, Matuzalem; Foggia, Zarate; Rocchi

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Veteran forward Simone Tiribocchi scored in the reverse fixture at the Olimpico and proved a handful for the shaky Lazio backline. With Lecce looking to capitalise on the Biancocelesti’s frailties on set plays and high crosses, the ‘TIR’ will fancy his chances of scoring another headed goal against Lazio on Sunday.

Fan favourite Mauro Zarate was hailed as the new messiah on the blue side of Rome after his blistering start to the season. Since then however, things have not gone so well for Zarate or Lazio, who have flattered to deceive in the new year. Lazio have undergone a goal drought during the past month and are in desperate need of a return to form from the talismanic youngster. If 'Maurito' get his finishing boots on once more, it is surely only a matter of time before Lazio start winning again.

PREDICTION

With both teams suffering from poor form of late, it could prove to be a cagey affair during the first period. However, both teams are in desperate need of three points and this should lead to an entertaining finish to the game. Given Lazio’s recent inability to score and Lecce’s habit of drawing games this season, it looks set to be another stalemate on Sunday.

He was expecting much. I biancocelesti fans were already ready to stroppiest eyes to admire it, the coach Delio Rossi was convinced he had solved the problem of doors, the president Lotito was proud to have made a large sign suddenly, however its performance so far proved to be well below expectations. Juan Pablo Carrizo has done for the moment, break the hearts of fans and even strategies Delio Rossi, so that the technician biancoceleste him removed from the mesh holds it on to him who was to be the second, Fernando Muslera. A difficult time then for a Carrizo but acts as the national counterpart Argentina. As early as in selection albiceleste Carrizo found glory and honor and is expressed at high levels. A situation that is easy to imagine it can not long endure and which to glimpse possible and sudden changes of direction. Calciomercato.it interviewed exclusive agent Carrizo, Pablo Sabbag, to understand what is happening to him that it was a promise and what are the possible future scenarios.

Carrizo with owns National Argentina, with the Lazio bench will do. How is Juan Pablo this situation?
He lives now as when to play. Where is the owner or not, he continues to work hoping to play. And 'the coach who decides who plays and who does not, Juan Pablo is training every day to play, but if not then the coach puts him in the field can not do anything.

Do not play with Lazio could jeopardize the post with the albiceleste selection?
No, no, he has already spoken to Maradona who reassured, he explained everything and told him that he is the holder.

In this period there came offers from some other team?
Yes, there are already several clubs about him.

But are you considering?
We must wait for June when the president decides on Carrizo Lotito.

There are Italian team interested in his client?
No, just foreign. In particular, they want two: one is Spanish, the other is German.

How do you behave with President Lotito?

Lazio's Poor Form Does Not Fool Lecce – Fabio Caserta

Lecce winger Fabio Caserta insists that he and his team-mates will not be lulled into a false sense of security by Lazio's current form...

Lazio have been struggling lately, continuing to slip down the table after producing several poor performances in succession. However, Lecce midfielder Fabio Caserta does not believe the Romans will be pushovers on Sunday at the Stadio Via del Mare.

"Lazio are a good team and difficult opponents - easy games in Serie A do not exist," the ex-Palermo player explained, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

"Lazio's situation does not interest us. We have to look to ourselves to ensure victory. Getting three points against Lazio would be a critical step towards our survival."

Lecce have also had a fairly inconsistent season. They are currently just two points above the drop zone. Therefore, a poor result against the Biancocelesti could see them be drawn deeper into the relegation battle.

Caserta has found a new home in Lecce, gaining regular playing time with the Salentini since joining them this summer, something he was unable to find previously in his career at Palermo or Catania. He has made 21 appearances this campaign.

Lecce's Guglielmo Stendardo Targets Full Points Against Lazio

The Giallorossi will host the Biancocelesti this weekend, and for Stendardo this could also be an opportunity of revenge against his former team. Lecce defender Guglielmo Stendardo is quoted by Il Tempo as saying that Cagliari deserved their 2-0 win against them last Sunday.

However, Stendardo is now looking forward to face his former team, Lazio, in order to help the Salentini obtain important points for the relegation battle.

"Cagliari deserved the win, they played a good game and were well placed on the pitch," admitted the 27-year-old.

"Obviously, if we had equalised with Papa Waigo, the game might have ended differently.

"After the defeat against Inter, we should have at least obtained a draw, but despite the defeat, we are still two points over the bottom three.

"Now we have 14 finals to play from where to start obtaining points already from this Sunday against Lazio."

Lecce are in 17th place with 22 points from 24 games played, with Torino and Chievo just two points away. Read More..

Signori: "No proposal from Lotito"

To analyze this time we think of biancocelesti Giuseppe Signori, second best mark in the history of Lazio. "The children of Rossi face this situation with calm and serenity. Parties are very strong and now are paying a little 'tired, even in the best people. It was obvious that Lazio could not continue on the path the original, but fans should not be alarmed, nothing is irretrievable. " Objectives former bomber is clear: "To point to Europe must return to the result." Lords has its say on the new idol of the fans, Mauro Zarate: "Looking ahead can become a great player, is young and a foreigner, and is paying the brunt of moving to Italy." When a planned return to Formello, Signori is categorical: "I have always said that to ensure that materializes a marriage should be two to tell you and, at the time, no proposals for engagement photos. Floccari for Lazio ?

The Bergamaschi sensation recently expressed his love for Rome, and he could land in the Biancocelesti side of the city this summer…

Sergio Floccari is enjoying his breakthrough season at Atalanta and his outstanding performances have earned him the attention of a number of clubs.
The 27-year-old has featured 24 times in Serie A this term, netting ten goals in the process, and several pundits have called for Italy boss Marcello Lippi to add him to the Nazionale ranks.

Atalanta boss Luigi Del Neri has already revealed that the Nerazzurri will not be able to keep hold of the highly-rated hitman at the end of the season and a bidding war is expected to ensue.

Roma are believed to be in pole position for the player’s signature as they have been tracking Floccari for several months now. However, the Corriere dello Sport claims that the Giallorossi will have to face competition from city rivals Lazio.

The Aquile already have a fearsome array of strikers at their disposal; they boast Macedonian international Goran Pandev, veteran forward Tommaso Rocchi and new-boy Mauro Zarate.

However, the Laziali directors have targeted a strong centre-forward as their main priority for next season and Floccari seems to fit the bill.

President Claudio Lotito has promised a high-profile summer transfer campaign, which is expected to get started with the acquisition of Zarate on a permanent basis. Read More..

Claudio Lotito: No Doubts In Delio Rossi Or His Lazio Side

Although the club are on the downward spiral, the president has his eyes fixed firmly upwards...

Lazio president Claudio Lotito is still keeping the faith in his coach and his team, maintaining the belief that they can reverse the club's poor recent run.

The 1-1 draw with Torino on Sunday saw the Biancocelesti slip further away from the European places and their main objective for this season, which is to qualify for the inaugural Europa League.

Nevertheless, the chief has maintained confidence in his side's ability and he has laughed off talk that his coach is in the line of fire.

"Plenty of teams have been doing badly but have been able to come out of it,” Lotito told Il Corriere Dello Sport. “I hope that Lazio can do the same.

"We have put together a team that is capable of competing with everyone. We have to reach our objectives rather than just think about them.

"We have set ourselves a date to talk about things around April. We have not been able to reap anything from our first five games, which doesn't reflect the quality of our team."

A number of reports have spoken of Delio Rossi's days being numbered, however, Lotito doesn't agree.

"I hope we can begin to get the right results because we haven't always been justly rewarded for the efforts we have made on the pitch," added the chief.

"I have always said that Delio Rossi’s job has never been put in doubt. Read More..

Simeone or Mazzari...??

Four defeats and two draws in the last six matches, sixth place and 8 points away on the seventh (which could be enough for the Uefa) 5. The season of Lazio is clinging to the Italian Cup, but against Juve will be very tough. The main goal at this point, it's good fish in the market. Understanding what is needed and move immediately to strengthen the Lazio and return a minimum of enthusiasm to the people biancoceleste.
There is air of revolution. In June, the leadership will change and not just technical. The renewal will be profound in all areas. We start from the bench: when is a race two, even if there is time for surprises. Mazzarri and Simeon. The names are those. The first, remember, Lotito had already met with last summer almost done, then the reconsideration. But they liked, and Lotito Mazzarri. But must get rid of the contract with Samp.
Simeon is free like crazy and the fans. In March it will be in Rome on that occasion and is likely an interview with Lotito. For his part, loves Delio Rossi Lazio but is resigned to the divorce and it is possible that in the end he has to take the initiative: the cycle is finished, it was realized long ago. Would like to close by raising the Coppa Italia, the dream is this. Then go elsewhere, perhaps at Naples that the courts discretion.
But most of the technical, will be crucial to choose the right players. Beyond the roles and shortcomings tactics, we need a charismatic man, a leader. Lotito has identified in Juan Sebastian Veron. The two feel on a regular basis, the project is to build the new Lazio around him. It does not matter if 34 years with some ailments and can not play all the games: Veron is needed, especially in the changing room, as a reference point for young and old. Needs of the totem Argentine people, to try again, an emotion. With or without Simeone, Veron arrives. And with him Marcos Angeleri, but makes the most from the side. Lazio instead to serve a great central defender. Lotito intends to fish in England, the important thing is that it is a "dominant" with the right personality.

Then the question of doors: it will give confidence to Carrizo without hesitation, or change, it will not be easy to rip Marchetti Cagliari. Again: essential to buy a median and a high center of weight, one can solve the physical - a blow to the head, a push, a breakthrough - the games against defenses closed type Turin the other night. Lazio fans to like both, but both see that as a goal scored by Amauri yesterday at Samp. We say that, except goalkeeper, three big shots are needed. Most other two lock Zarate and Pandev. But then we make them play with a center-pivot and a solid and aggressive midfield capable of supporting the attack with three points. Why port the courage points, only the unconscious mockery - see Florence - and disappointments. Read More..

Lazio's £40m spending plan

Lazio will spend £40m this summer as they look to hold on to their established names and sign loan stars Mauro Zarate and Francelino Matuzalem permanently.

The Biancocelesti are locked in contract talks with Goran Pandev and Cristian Ledesma, who are eager to improve upon their current deals.

Pandev is the No.1 priority as German giants Bayern Munich have expressed an interest in the talented Macedonian striker.

Meanwhile Zarate has demanded £2m a year to sign from Qatar based outfit Al-Saad, with whom he already has a lucrative contract.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has promised Biancocelesti fans the talented Argentine's signature. Zarate has scored eight goals in Serie A this season.

Talks are also in an advanced stage for Matuzalem who, despite making just six appearances for Lazio in 2008-09, has impressed Coach Delio Rossi as a valuable squad player.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is available on the cheap as his parent club Real Zaragoza are currently in the Spanish Second Division.

Estudiantes defender Marco Angeleri has also revealed the Biancocelesti have made an attempt to sign him.

“It's all ok, I am going to Lazio. The situation is going well, it's all in place.” Angeleri told Rome based daily Il Corriere dello Sport.

Estudiantes have reportedly received an offer of around £3.8m from Lazio and the deal is all but finalised.

Lazio currently lie in 11th place in Serie A and are back in action at the weekend when they travel to Lecce.

Angeleri : "All done, I'm moving to LAZIO"

Source: Corriere dello Sport.it

Just the desire for Angeleri, "State assured that the situation is fine, it's OK ..." and go through. And 'the promise of Mambrù (this is the nickname of Marcos). He made yesterday Estudiantes managers. In an informal contact has reassured his move to Lazio, a gesture that sweeps away the voices and the defeat of these days. Success at the Country Club, the withdrawal of Bell City, the headquarters of the red and white site north of La Plata. Indiscretions are collected in Argentina and confirmed by the staff of the President Matias Filipas.

THE SOLUTION - Angeleri, wants the turn, wants the Lazio, is doing by "intermediary" between his attorneys el'Estudiantes. The Argentine has communicated to the managers who will speak later today with Fernando Hidalgo and Miguel Pires, its representatives, to unblock the situation. He also promoted a meeting between the manager el'Estudiantes, a summit which was scheduled for tomorrow. Will clarify the facts and put aside the friction. Hidalgo, rather than the socio Pires, has tried to hinder the operation Estudiantes accusing of having sold the player to hold it in Sydney without consideration. The claim has the right to transfer Angeleri parameter to zero in June, but the club can boast of Argentine economic demands. But the Estudiantes, received the offer of 3.8 million from Lazio, has closed the agreement with biancocelesti (plus a strong clause that in case of termination of the contract protects the club and is recognized by the Federation Argentina. Concerns have grown players in the youth sector). The fact is that the node is about to melt, just the desire to Angeleri. Read More..

Lazio's Delio Rossi: We Didn't Do Well Against Torino

The Biancocelesti's run of defeats came to a halt yesterday, but coach Rossi was far from pleased with the way his team played.

Lazio coach Delio Rossi tried to see the glass half full as his team obtained their first point in five league games, drawing 1-1 with Torino.

The Biancocelesti were especially unimpressive in the first half but managed to lift after the break and cancel out Ignazio Abate's opener. Nevertheless, Rossi was unimpressed.

"We didn't do well and they punished us," admitted the former Atalanta coach on Sportmediaset.it. "We started out the game nervously and they scored in their first opportunity.

"In the second half we grew in intensity and quality of the game, but we did worse than in Florence [against Fiorentina].

"Let's hope at least that we stopped the bleeding now that we moved away from 31 points in the standings."

This point did not allow Lazio to move up the standings, as they remained stuck in 11th place with 32 points from 24 games played.

Claudio Lotito Praises ‘Depleted’ Lazio

Lazio managed to salvage a point last night, as defender Sebastiano Siviglia headed in 15 minutes from time to cancel out Torino winger Ignazio Abate’s strike.

Delio Rossi’s men are in free-fall in Serie A at present, and were hoping to get back to winning ways after losing their last four games on the trot.

“We just failed to convert the chances we created,” Lazio President Claudio Lotito is quoted as saying by news agency ANSA.

“I am not looking for excuses, but I think the result was partly down to the fact that injury and bans severely depleted the squad.

“Moreover, some players came back from international duty on Thursday and they were probably somewhat tired. Otherwise, I feel we could have repeated our previous victories over Toro.”

Lazio had already met the Granata twice this season and came out on top on both occasions, winning 3-1 in Serie A and registering the same result in the Coppa Italia.

“The game did not start well and could have had an even worse finale,” sighed Lotito.

“And we did good in getting back into it after Abate’s goal, which was Toro’s only shot on goal.

“The lads wanted to win at all costs, because they do not accept this position in the table and are mortified.”

Sebastiano Siviglia: Draw With Torino Is The Right Result

The defender is satisfied with his side's performance after grabbing a vital equaliser...

Sebastiano Siviglia: Draw With Torino Is The Right Result
Lazio defender Sebastiano Siviglia admits the draw against Torino was the right result after his side came from behind to take a point from the early game on Saturday night.

The Bianconcelesti started brightly, but they went down after a poor clearance from Ousmane Dabo allowed Ignazio Abate to fire his side ahead. Siviglia struck back in the second half to rescue his side, but they were unable to find a winner.

Nevertheless, the stopper is hoping for some improvements.

"It was a game which I don't think we would have deserved to win to be honest," the stopper told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

"Torino scored with their only real shot on goal and it surprised us, saying that, we wouldn't have deserved to lose either so the draw is the right result.

"I am happy to have scored and we hope we can win the next game."

Lazio are aiming for Europe this term and the Italian is still hopeful his side can climb into the UEFA Cup positions.

"There are still plenty of games to go and it also depends on us as we have to step up and give our maximum," added the stopper.

"Hopefully we will get some luck too and it should help us." Read More..

Review : Lazio vs Torino

Lazio performances against torino last night was awful. Lazio really off show the quality game of the team to be in fact. They weren't played as a team , more showing some skill individual, very low class and much concern. It was look like they have no coach anymore. Every attack path didn't show a deadful strategy. All attacks strategy always broke by opponent defence. It was so disappointed remember that we have many great players to be like pandev, rocchi, matuzalem, foggia which is notabene are experienced player in italian league. But their performance were very disappointing. Rely on crossing center and long direct passing to upfront was not ideal tactic to be played in serie-a. At the other side, the attack compiled from defence position to upfront should be gain postive result last night. lack of creativity, less of self confidence, and heavy pressure from Lazio ultras, 3 factors that according to me becomes lazio's weakness, In this case I think the most responsible people is coach Delio Rossi. His Strategy and tactics are old and. You should be ashamed with this result, Rossi. Please show your responsibility with resign immediatly from Lazio. We can't hardly long to see our Lazio being demolish by another team. We need some revolution, or Lazio will be gain another negative results. This should be a though season ever. Hope we can hang on with this situation. Forza Lazio...Avanti Lazio..NON MOLLARE MAI..!! Read More..

LAZIO TORINO 1-1

It's as you were in the table for Lazio and Torino as both teams failed to take their chances at the Stadio Olimpico and ended up sharing the points as a result. Ignazio Abate gave his side the lead, but Sebastiano Siviglia saved the day for Delio Rossi's men. It was an entertaining game with everything and Aleksandar Kolarov knocked out the referee, but he will not get in trouble for it.

First Half

Lazio started brightly after Torino got the game underway. Delio Rossi had asked for a decent performance during his pre-match press conference, and the way his players started seems to suggest they were listening. Early pressing from Pasquale Foggia sucked in the Torino defenders and Cesare Natale conceded the free kick.

The position of the foul meant there was only ever going to be one taker as Alesandar Kolarov sized up the opportunity. The Belgrade-born defender whipped in a dangerous attempt which had Matteo Sereni worried. The ball flashed past the wall and seemed like it would rifle the net, but the bounce just before it flew in changed the trajectory of the ball and it hit the side netting.

It was a great start from Lazio and they kept on pressing. Foggia led the charge and his runs down the left had Torino's defenders struggling. An excellent one-two move with Goran Pandev saw the Granata defence open up, but Pisano made a last-gasp challenge to stop the Macedonian striker from launching a strike.

Torino's first real chance came from Blerim Dzemaili. The midfielder tried his luck from distance with a powerful volley after Alessandro Rosina set him up with a decent knock-down header. However, his finish was reckless and the ball flew over violently. Down the other end, Tommaso Rocchi teed-up Kolarov who smashed a brilliant strike towards goal, Sereni was helpless, but luckily for him the ball flashed wide.

Pandev was outstanding for his side. The hitman has a magnificent left foot, but it let him down on this occasion after he did so much work to set himself up. Paolo Dellafiore was turned inside out by some magical skills, but the finish was lacking. The striker tried to find the top corner with a curling effort which didn't find its target.

Both sides continued to create chances in a fairly open game, however, some poor finishing in front of goal saw the scores stay level. However, Torino struck ten minutes from half time and took an unexpected lead. Ousmane Dabo's ridiculous attempt at clearing the ball fell kindly for Ignazio Abate and the midfielder needed no second invitation to take his chance. Abate controlled the lose ball and buried it into the bottom left corner. It was Torino's first real chance of the game. Lazio looked perplexed as they had dominated the match until the goal.

Second Half

Torino's first half goal saw them come out for the restart with an air of confidence. The Granata played as if they were the home side as they showed Lazio they would not be looking to give up their lead. An excellent move constructed by Rosina and finished by Nicola Ventole should have doubled the lead, but the former Inter striker wasted his chance for glory.

Lazio were unlucky not to have been awarded been awarded a penalty after Goran Pandev was brought down in the box by Dellafiore. Referee Massimiliano Saccani took a long and hard view of the incident, but waved play on. However, replays showed the Macedonian had a great shout.

Both sides continued to entertain the crowd, the fans best moment came when a stunning drive from Kolarov hit the referee in the face with brute force. Saccani was momentarily dazed as he took the full force of the strike straight on. The game was stopped momentarily as medical staff ensured the match official was able to continue.

Ventola and Rosina were playing some great football between each other as Lazio struggled to contain them. Ventola should have done better after he was fed by Eugenio Corini, but Rosina committed a foul off the ball and the free kick went in Lazio's favour. Torino were made to pay for not finishing off their opponents as the Biancolesti did find a way back into the match through Sebastiano Siviglia.

Pandev whipped in a wicked corner from the right which the Torino defence failed to clear. Rocchi, who was on the back post, knocked it back into the box for Stefano Mauri to attempt a spectacular overhead kick which went wrong, but luckily found Siviglia, who deflected the ball into the net from close range. It was a goal from nothing and Torino will have felt hard done by it. But this has been, by and large, the story of the season for the team from Piedmont as they failed to pick up maximum points once again.
