Floccari for Lazio ?

The Bergamaschi sensation recently expressed his love for Rome, and he could land in the Biancocelesti side of the city this summer…

Sergio Floccari is enjoying his breakthrough season at Atalanta and his outstanding performances have earned him the attention of a number of clubs.
The 27-year-old has featured 24 times in Serie A this term, netting ten goals in the process, and several pundits have called for Italy boss Marcello Lippi to add him to the Nazionale ranks.

Atalanta boss Luigi Del Neri has already revealed that the Nerazzurri will not be able to keep hold of the highly-rated hitman at the end of the season and a bidding war is expected to ensue.

Roma are believed to be in pole position for the player’s signature as they have been tracking Floccari for several months now. However, the Corriere dello Sport claims that the Giallorossi will have to face competition from city rivals Lazio.

The Aquile already have a fearsome array of strikers at their disposal; they boast Macedonian international Goran Pandev, veteran forward Tommaso Rocchi and new-boy Mauro Zarate.

However, the Laziali directors have targeted a strong centre-forward as their main priority for next season and Floccari seems to fit the bill.

President Claudio Lotito has promised a high-profile summer transfer campaign, which is expected to get started with the acquisition of Zarate on a permanent basis.
