Lazio's £40m spending plan

Lazio will spend £40m this summer as they look to hold on to their established names and sign loan stars Mauro Zarate and Francelino Matuzalem permanently.

The Biancocelesti are locked in contract talks with Goran Pandev and Cristian Ledesma, who are eager to improve upon their current deals.

Pandev is the No.1 priority as German giants Bayern Munich have expressed an interest in the talented Macedonian striker.

Meanwhile Zarate has demanded £2m a year to sign from Qatar based outfit Al-Saad, with whom he already has a lucrative contract.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has promised Biancocelesti fans the talented Argentine's signature. Zarate has scored eight goals in Serie A this season.

Talks are also in an advanced stage for Matuzalem who, despite making just six appearances for Lazio in 2008-09, has impressed Coach Delio Rossi as a valuable squad player.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is available on the cheap as his parent club Real Zaragoza are currently in the Spanish Second Division.

Estudiantes defender Marco Angeleri has also revealed the Biancocelesti have made an attempt to sign him.

“It's all ok, I am going to Lazio. The situation is going well, it's all in place.” Angeleri told Rome based daily Il Corriere dello Sport.

Estudiantes have reportedly received an offer of around £3.8m from Lazio and the deal is all but finalised.

Lazio currently lie in 11th place in Serie A and are back in action at the weekend when they travel to Lecce.
